How prison changed my preaching

It was my privilege in the course of my pulpit ministry to be invited by the Mayo Clinic to serve as the public member of their Institution Review Board. The IRB met each week at the clinic. A dozen physicians and I along with the clinic’s legal counsel discussed the risk/benefit ratio of every invasive protocol submitted for review. Our discussions were often not only academic inquiries but also times of soulful introspection.
