Description

The global shift of mission is the topic of the week of the week during the Presbyterian History and Reformed Theology Lecture Series July 16-19 at Montreat Conference Center. This series will focus on global Christianity and feature experts from Africa, South America, Asia and the field of missiolog.

 

Several internationally-known scholars will stretch and challenge our Western understanding of Christianity today: Justo Gonzalez (South America), Paul Huh (Korea), Eun Sik Cho (North Korea and the Philippines), Yonggyu Lee (China, and Mongolia), Raj Nadella (India), John Azumah (Africa), and Marsha Snulligan-Haney (missiology). The daily lectures will be facilitated by Deborah F. Mullen, dean of faculty and executive vice-president at Columbia Theological Seminary and Paul T. Roberts, dean and president of Johnson C. Smith Seminary.

 

The series, now in its sixth year, will take place from 9:00 – 11:30 AM in Convocation Hall in Assembly Inn. Paul Huh will lead a time of worship and song from 9:00 – 9:30 AM, using music and hymnody associated with the geographic area of the day. A hymn sing, featuring new music from GLORY TO GOD, the new Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) hymnal, will take place at 7:00 PM on Tuesday evening July 17, also in Convocation Hall.

Thursday July 19 Dr. Marsha Snulligan Haney - “The Center Has Moved from the West: How Missiology Helps Us Find Each Other in Christ”

 

The event is sponsored by Columbia Theological Seminary, Johnson C. Smith Seminary of the Interdenominational Theological Center, and the Montreat Conference Center. Advance registration is not required, and there is no charge for this event.
