Our Session at church meets tonight, and we were already planning on discussing my notes from Rodger Nishioka's recent address here on "Eight Trends that are Changing the Church's Ministry." I'll now add this article to the mix of our discussion and continuing discernment of how to be the Church in a new age. Thank you. - Steve Plank

As a retired PC(USA) clergywoman, I find it difficult to get the ear of others in my age group. But the ones who do listen are college age - my older grandchildren's age. Thank you for the marvelous article. We must find new ways to do church! Even I see that, and am excited about the possibilities. Someone needs to write a sequel to The Once and Future Church which I read 15-20 years ago. - Ginny (Virginia) Carlisle

As a pastor I believe this is a kairos time. The question is whether we will seize the day and be the church Jesus called us to be. A church whose primary call is to love God, self, and neighbor. I am convinced that Christ called followers to be in relationship with him, God, and neighbor, and not institutions or denominations. And as difficult as that may be for those of us serving in the Presbyterian Church, it surely puts things into perspective. That's the post modern church. - Mara Liz Rivera

Change is often beneficial because it requires introspection. PCUSA is very good at that so I think we can only gain from this process.

I clapped my hands and laughed at Brian McLaren's statement about doing what Christ said to do. If we all did that, our church could be the entire planet! - Kate De Braose

Thank you for this insightful article. I will share it tomorrow with a group of church educators at Austin Presbyterian Seminary. We are exploring what Christian education needs to be in our present and future church. The article fits right in with our discussion. - Donald Griggs
