Q: Why should I register with the Outlook?
Answer ...
Registration with our site provides you with access to the full content of our articles as well as the ability to comment on these articles to our editors. We are also in the process of implementing a number of exciting services on our site that enhance the interactivity of our registered users, such as live online topical discussion forums, breaking news email alerts, and online subscription and renewal services. These new features require a valid email address allow us at the Outlook to contact you quickly and effectively, to monitor the discussion forums, and to follow what articles interest our readers.
- For online visitors who do not currently subscribe to the Outlook, only the following information items are required: Name, email address, userid/password (that you set), City and State.
- For current print subscribers, it is advised that you enter your full contact information so that we may note your username as a subscriber for future functionality (online renewals, etc).
Your information will not be shared with any third party nor will unsolicited emails be sent without a means to "opt-out" of future mailings.

Q: How do I register with the Outlook?
Answer ...
Registration is only required one time, after which you may sign onto the Outlook site using your defined username and password.
- To begin registration, select the "Login" link at the top right hand corner of any page, or select the "Register" button from the home page login pane.
- Enter your contact information (required fields are noted with an asterisk, but subscribers are encouraged to enter full contact information) and define a user name and password. Please verify the accuracy of your email address before you submit your information.
- The website will send you an email containing a Verification code - this short code will be used the first time you log into the Outlook. When you enter your username and password on the home page and click "Login", a few field will appear requesting this Verification code. Enter the code you received in the email and you are done!
If you experience any problems with registration (the email address was mistyped so the verification code never arrived, for example) please report this issue to us using the form below. Please include all the details so that we can quickly respond to your request.
If you are a regular Outlook reader, consider saving time at login by clicking the "Remember Login" checkbox on the Login pane. This will automatically log you into the site and give you immediate access to our features.

Q: When I enter my username and password, I click the "Login" button but nothing happens. What should I check?
Answer ...
Check your security (either through your browser or internet security software) to see if javascript and cookies are enabled. Both are required to log in and post comments about articles to the site.
Cookies A cookie is a text-only string that gets entered into the memory of your browser. The website sets this value, and it is used to retain your username and security during your session. In cases like the "Remember Login" option, this string is saved to a file on your hard disk for future reference. The Outlook stores no sensitive information in these cookies, but allowing cookies is required to log into our site. For more information about cookies, see this site: http://www.cookiecentral.com/faq/#2.7
Javascript JavaScript is a popular scripting language used in millions of web pages and server applications worldwide. It provides functionality in many areas, but on our site it is mainly used on the data entry forms (Reader Feedback).

Q: I registered, but I have not received my validation code yet. What now?
Answer ...
Check your SPAM filtering software -- we have received several notices that our emails have been returned because we are not on your allowed list. webmaster@pres-outlook.org is the mail address that send you a welcome message with your validation code.
|
|
Q: I registered and received my validation code, but when I enter it in the Validation code field(after successfully logging in) it tells me "Invalid Validation Code"
Answer ...
Be sure that you are entering the full validation code (format '#-###', including dash but no quotes). The values on both sides of the dash are numeric (zero, for example, not letter 'O')
This validation is process is in place to ensure that we have accurate contact information for our readers, not to prevent you from enjoying our content online. If you continue to experience problems, please contact the webmaster who can approve your registration manually.

Q: Why does the top menu look strange?
Answer ...
To position us for enhanced functionality, security and visual appeal for our readers, our site now employs technology that is best viewed through the browsers listed below. Some of these browsers are available free for download, and the links have been included. The Outlook does not endorse nor support these browsers, but our site has been tested on these versions and is functional.
Many other browsers as well as other operating systems (ex. Linux) may function as expected on this site, and you are welcome to share them with the webmaster so that we can add them to this list. In contrast, Internet Explorer 5.2.3 for MacIntosh will display the menus in an altered manner, though they are still functional.
If your browser is one of the above or comparable (recent technology), check your security (either through your browser or internet security software) to see if javascript and cookies are enabled. Both are required to log in and post comments about articles to the site.
